Hello World

👆Mandatory title for the first blog post written by an engineer. 😄

After contemplating for a long while, I have finally created a new site with my own domain here.

There are a few reasons why I’m doing this.

1. To learn in public. I read about this many years ago in a Twitter / X thread, and the idea has been with me since.
2. To document down the things that I see and do, and to share my experience with other people. Things such as attending WordCamps, traveling, finance, life in general etc.
3. Some friends asked me things about being an Automattician. And there are some Automatticians from other countries who asked me things about Malaysia. This is the place where I can post my answers and share them easily with everyone, instead of answering the questions repeatedly.
4. To learn more about WordPress by using it. WordPress is huge, and the best way to learn it is to get my hands dirty on it.
5. Dogfooding our products. As an Automattician, we have perks and benefits, and WordPress.com is one of them. As I use the platform, I get to know the product better, and I can help to provide feedback to the team. And who knows, maybe one day I get to work on WordPress.com. And as an example: I’m drafting this post on Jetpack mobile app.

Here we go with a new year 2024 and a new blogging journey. 🥂
